Inclusive Gaming and World Building: Prototyping the Future to Provoke Change
In this panel the Cook Inlet Tribal Council, a pioneering Alaska Native social service organization, will share how they’re working with veteran film and video game storytellers to inclusively research, visualize and create narratives that blend the timeless wisdom of the past with desired futures. From developing a commercial video game based on a story passed down for thousands of years (reaching over 4 million players, used in schools throughout the world and featured in the Smithsonian) to building future worlds that tangibly translate and transform the Now. By demonstrating the power of collaborative storytelling across youth, elders and community members to create change and inspire aspirational and achievable futures, this panel will share insights relevant to all communities wanting to fold these practices into programs to help a generation shape their future vs. being shaped by it.
