Mike organized and lead the Higher Education practice at Dow Lohnes, which merged with Cooley in 2014, where he was co-chair of the practice until 2016 and now continues as senior counsel. In the broad education vertical Mike has advised a wide range of institutions, service providers, associations, accrediting organizations and financial interests. Previously, Mike was New York City Assistant City Administrator and Dir. of University Relations and then Assoc Vice Chancellor for Urban & Governmental Affairs and at the Univ of Illinois-Chicago. He is a trustee of Fielding Graduate University, Vermont College of Fine Arts and the University of the District of Columbia Foundation and he is a recipient of WCET's Richard Jonsen Award, Excelsior College President's Medal, USDLA's Hall of Fame Award and a Doctor of Humane Letters from Fielding Graduate University. He holds a BA from Cornell University and a JD from NYU, and he was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
