Dr. Jörg Dräger, born in 1968, studied Physics and Economics at the University of Hamburg, Germany. He then went on to receive a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theoretical Physics from Cornell University, New York. He started his career at Roland Berger Management Consults before he became CEO of the Northern Institute of Technology, a private institution of higher education. In 2001 he took office as Hamburg's Minister of Science and Research, and later also as its Minister of Health and Consumer Protection. In 2008, Dräger joined the Executive Board of Bertelsmann Stiftung, one of Europe's largests think tanks where he is responsible for the education, integration and digitization programs. In addition, he is CEO of the Centre for Higher Education Development and mentors young entrepreneurs at the Founders Foundation. He has written several books on education and digitization.
