Missy was born deaf and began teaching ASL to college students while still an undergraduate at Arizona State University (ASU). After graduating from ASU she toured with The National Theater of the Deaf (NTD) and published a book, "Our Day: Our View". A photo documentary of global deaf culture during the 24 hours of May 1, 1997. Nearly 30 years later she is still teaching ASL only now it is at a much greater scale. She founded ASL Inside and has built the world's most advanced platform to deliver American Sign Language as a Service (ASLaaS). Thousands of students from more than 50 universities, colleges and high schools have taken classes using curriculum she has created. Missy also founded Silent Sleigh so that deaf children could experience the joy of meeting Santa speaking their language. Missy's goal is to double the number of students taking ASL classes for credit within 5 years. She has twice served as VP of Arizona Association of the Deaf (AZAD) and is currently the president. She is also a member of The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL) and is on the team building the first Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) for ASL. To stay busy she teaches karate and, after 8 years of training, will test for her black belt in karate in the summer of 2020. Missy and her husband live with their 3 daughters in Arizona.
