Matthew Pittinsky, Ph.D. is the CEO of Parchment and co-founder and former CEO and Executive Chairman of Blackboard Inc. Parchment's mission is to help turn credentials into opportunities. The Parchment network spans 5,000 high schools, 1,600 colleges and universities, and 11 state education agencies. Prior to Parchment, Matthew helped lead Blackboard's growth from start-up in 1997 to publicly traded company in 2004 to the most widely adopted learning management system in the world in 2008, when he transitioned to non-executive Board chair. Matthew holds a Ph.D. in Sociology of Education from Columbia University Teachers College and is on the faculty of Arizona State University. He is an active EdTech angel investor and serves on the boards of CampusLogic, Picmonic and the Woodrow Wilson Graduate School of Teaching and Learning.
