Joan Gabel

Joan T.A. Gabel assumed office as the University of Minnesota's 17th President on July 1, 2019. She most recently served as executive vice president and the provost at the University of South Carolina (UofSC), and previously held faculty appointments at Georgia State University and Florida State University. She also served as dean of the University of Missouri's Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business, where she was recognized as a shining star in business school administration by the Wall Street Journal.
President Gabel earned her bachelor's degree in philosophy from Haverford College and her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia. She has been recognized with numerous research, service, and teaching awards, including a Fulbright Scholarship.
