Gordie Keenan is Vice President for Training at Kirby Inland Marine, LP which owns and operates inland towboats and tank barges throughout the US Inland Waterway system. His career began in the maritime industry upon graduation from SUNY Maritime College in 1977, as a USCG licensed 3rd Assistant Engineering Officer aboard Exxon Shipping Company oil tankers. He advanced through his sailing career, eventually attaining the rank of Chief Engineer. In 1986, Exxon Shipping Company, now SeaRiver Maritime, brought Mr. Keenan ashore to serve in several shore side management assignments. In 1996, he served as Vice President at Midstream Fuel Service, Inc. in Mobile, AL. In 2005, Gordie joined Higman Marine Service, Inc. in Houston TX as Vice President. He started up the Higman Training group in 2010. Higman was acquired by Kirby Corp in 2018, where Gordie was assigned to his current position. Gordie and his wife, Ruth Keenan presently live in Houston, TX.
