Deena Bishop is superintendent of Anchorage School District, Alaska's largest school district. Her focus on student achievement is backed by experiences in teaching & educational leadership. She is firmly committed to preparing every child for success, giving them hope for their future. Dr. Bishop began her educational career in 1991 and has proudly served as a teacher, principal & superintendent. She was named ASD superintendent in 2016. She has a bachelor's degree in education, a master's degree in educational administration, & a doctorate in learning assessment & system performance from University of Oregon. She holds an AASA National Superintendents Certificate. Dr. Bishop is serves on several non-profit boards, including the Education Commission of the States. She previously served on the University of Alaska Board of Regents. Dr. Bishop is married and has a son and two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family wake surfing, running, & interior painting.
